About This Project

Restaurant sites usually bury the menu behind a PDF link, which is the one thing every visitor came for. This one puts it on the page in four tabbed sections a diner can read on a phone while deciding where to eat. Around it sits what a family restaurant has that a chain does not: thirty-eight years, three generations, and a mole that still takes two days. The reservation form asks date, time and party size, and hands anything over six to the phone, because that is a conversation. Warm cream and terracotta with a serif display, so the food photography does not have to fight the design.

  • Dietary tags on individual dishes rather than a footnote
  • Family history used as the differentiator a chain cannot copy
